It's designed to equip volunteers, like yourself, with the knowledge to provide menstrual hygiene education in partnership with UhuruPads in Tanzania. 👩‍🏫 Empowering Women, Educating Girls 🎓 The course delves into the challenges faced by girls during their menstrual years and how these challenges can impact their education and well-being. By understanding menstruation, we can help girls navigate this natural phase of life with confidence and without shame. The course will guide you through the essential topics to cover, including hygiene practices, myths vs. facts about menstruation, and the importance of proper education for young women.

🤲 A Collaborative Initiative 💫 This course is inspired by the generosity and dedication of people and organizations who support UhuruPads. It's a collaborative effort that began with NBA basketball star Dwight Howard's commitment to safety and education for girls in Tanzania. His efforts led to the construction of school dormitories, which later expanded into providing menstrual hygiene education and pads through the partnership with Laura Chauvin.

👣 From Sandals to UhuruPads 👣 Laura Chauvin's journey in East Africa, starting with clean water and nutrition projects, naturally led her to support women artisans making beaded sandals. Her initiative, Her Best Foot Forward Sandals, not only empowers these women but also contributes to the education and well-being of girls through its charitable arm.

🌟 The Birth of UhuruPads 🌟 When Laura visited one of the schools Dwight was supporting, she discovered the alarming number of girls missing school due to menstruation. In response, she enlisted the help of the women artisans from the sandal project. Together, they started creating washable sanitary pads, igniting a movement that would eventually lead to the introduction of UhuruPads – providing a sustainable and eco-friendly solution to menstrual hygiene.
